The game started with two quick Zenit runs - 7-0 and 8-2. After that, Vasily Karasev took a timeout. The break helped, and by the end of the first quarter there was only a 4-point difference between the teams. Seven of the first eleven points for MBA-MAI were scored by Andrey Zubkov.
In the second quarter our team continued to try to catch up, but Zenit didn't let MBA-MAI get any closer than one long-range shot. Home team had added two more points to their lead before the halftime- 47-41.
Unfortunately, MBA-MAI played much worse in the second half. Zenit quickly increased their lead to double digits, and red-whites started to making more mistakes. The third ten-minute period ended with a 33-13 to Zenit.
After that, the final period was a formality. Zenit consolidated their advantage a little more and won - 103-75. Ivan Belousov scored the first points in the VTB United League and 18-year-old Maxim Ogarkov got his first minutes at the highest level with 1 rebound.
